Capital Campaign

Just $80,000 to go as of April 2017!

The Project

The library renovation project is complete, but not completely paid for.

On Tuesday, September 15, 2015 the golden shovels were used to break ground on the glass "Commons." The grand reopening was on Saturday, May 7, 2016.

Brennan Construction of Mankato created more efficient, flexible and accessible spaces throughout the library, thereby fulfilling the goals of the renovation project.

The renovation project totaled $3.4 million dollars, because it addressed some long overdue maintenance (heating, cooling, safety and accessibility issues) and it incorporates modern improvements such as LED lighting.

In addition to much improved children's and youth areas and the updated meeting room downstairs, the second floor of the renovated library offers two conference rooms, better access to bookshelves, more space for computers and mobile devices, and inviting places for people to gather.

How Can I Help?
  • This project is a textbook example of a public-private partnership.  The City is paying for half of the $3M renovation, and the Friends are raising the remainder.
  • We need to raise an additional $80,000 as of April 2017 to fulfill our portion of the public-private partnership.
